Carsten has specialist experience in real estate transactions and real estate private equity. He has been involved in a number of high-profile transactions with a total volume of several billion euros. His experience includes portfolio and large single-asset transactions in all asset classes including offices and retail. He recently advised on some of the largest cross-border transactions in the logistics market.
Carsten is one of the leading German real estate lawyers and is mentioned as one of the Top 15 lawyers for real estate law under the age of 50 (both JUVE, 2017/2018). He is also ranked as one of the leading German real estate lawyers by Chambers, The Legal 500 and Who's Who Legal.
In the past, Carsten has advised, among others: AFIAA on the acquisition of Kaisergalerie Hamburg, Axa Investment Managers on the acquisition of office buildings in Germany for their international funds, Blackstone on the acquisition of five cross-border logistics portfolios in Germany and on the sale of the logistics platform Logicor with a value of over €12 billion and LaSalle Investment Management on the acquisition of several retail centres and shopping malls.
Before joining Linklaters, Carsten was head of DLA Piper’s international and German real estate practice.
Carsten is a member of the executive committee of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and its local chair (Munich).
