James Choo is a Partner in the Capital Markets and Indonesia Practices. His main practice areas are fund raising, capital markets transactions and general corporate law.
James has been involved in a number of significant initial public offerings on the Singapore Exchange including the initial public offerings of EMAS Offshore Limited; Starburst Holdings Limited; and IHH Healthcare Berhad which raised gross proceeds of more than S$2.4 billion. This was the first dual concurrent listing on Bursa Malaysia and the Singapore Exchange.
He has also been involved in cross-border M&A deals locally in Singapore and across Asia. Some of the transactions he has been involved in include advising KKR Asia Limited in connection with its acquisition of an approximate 12.64% stake in PT Nippon Indosari Corpindo Tbk., Indonesia's leading mass market bread company for approximately US$74 million and PT Bank Danamon Indonesia Tbk in connection with Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group's proposed acquisition of Indonesia's fifth most profitable bank, PT Bank Danamon, from Asia Financial (Indonesia) Pte Ltd. and other affiliated entities.
James has also been involved in a number of cross border primary and secondary listings, such as the listing of PT Integra Indocabinet Tbk on the Indonesia Stock Exchange; Tune Ins Holdings on the Bursa Malaysia; and Avago Technologies Limited on the NASDAQ Global Select Market in connection with its initial public offering which raised gross proceeds of approximately US$648 million.
James graduated from the University of Durham. He is admitted to the Singapore Bar and the New York State Bar.
