Francisco Cantos is the partner responsible for the Antitrust, competition and trade practice group in Spain. In 2006 (and until 2010), he was appointed one of the five worldwide member partners of the antitrust Steering Committee of the firm. He joined the firm in 1990 and became a partner in 1998. Before joining the founding team who first opened the office in Madrid, he worked in the ACT practice of our London and Brussels offices.
He specialises in all areas of EU and Spanish antitrust law. During more than 20 years of legal profession, he has represented many multinational and Spanish clients before the EU and Spanish competition authorities, including Abertis Telecom, British Telecom, Iberia, “la Caixa”, L'Oreal, Marks & Spencer, Osborne, PepsiCo, Sony, Sotheby's and Visa Europe.
Francisco is listed in Chambers as an expert in Competition/European Law and also as one of Spain's leading antitrust lawyers in other international legal directories such as Global Counsel, The Legal 500 and Best Lawyers International.
Francisco speaks English and French. He has published and lectured frequently on competition law matters. He was educated at the University of Madrid (UAM) and the College of Europe, Bruges, Belgium (LLM).
