Possessing what clients have described as ‘great depth of experience in all facets of capital markets’, Kevin Kennedy focuses on securities and corporate governance matters. A partner in Simpson Thacher & Bartlett’s Palo Alto office, he has served as primary outside counsel for a range of companies. He has also represented issuers and underwriters on a variety of securities transactions, especially IPOs.
Highlights of his experience include representing the underwriters in Tesla Motors’ IPO, the first IPO by a US auto manufacturer since 1956 and in Apple’s $17 billion bond offering — then the largest corporate debt offering ever. Kevin has also advised the underwriters in IPOs for Vince, eBay, lululemon athletica, Vivint Solar, Fox Factory, Demand Media, Ceres, Nu Skin Enterprises, Bare Escentuals and Limelight Networks.
Kevin has been cited as a leading lawyer in a number of practice area directories including Chambers USA, America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, The Best Lawyers in America and Who’s Who Legal: California. In 2011, the Los Angeles/San Francisco Daily Journal named Kevin as one of California’s Top 100 Leading Lawyers, and in 2013 he was named Lawyer of the Week by the Financial Times. In addition, Kevin has spoken on securities matters at the Annual Institute on Securities Laws, sponsored by the Practicing Law Institute, and has published numerous articles on securities, corporate governance matters and initial public offerings.
