In his professional career, Farid F Nasution’s solid expertise in Indonesia’s competition law is grounded in seven years’ experience working directly for the Indonesian Competition Commission (KPPU). During his time at the KPPU, Farid began as an investigator, handling landmark cases and rising to become the head of substantive review at the KPPU Merger Directorate. In this capacity, Farid led the drafting of the implementing regulation of Indonesia’s Anti-Monopoly Law (Law No. 5 of 1999), regarding merger notification obligations in Indonesia, as well as the KPPU’s first Guidelines on Merger control. Following Farid’s tenure at the KPPU, he spent five years in another prominent law firm in Indonesia, specialising in anti-trust/competition, trade and general corporate matters. He has deep experience across a comprehensive range of sectors, including telecommunication, pharmaceutical, automotive, motorcycle, energy and mining, oil and gas, banking and finance, insurance and public procurement. As a trade lawyer, he regularly advises clients on matters relating to a range of import, retail, standardisation and ASEAN free trade agreements.
