Dr Hassan Arab is the partner in the dispute resolution practice and deputy managing partner of Al Tamimi & Company.
He is a leading expert in all aspects of civil, commercial litigation and dispute resolution. Dr Arab regularly sits as an arbitrator and advises on arbitration-related issues. He has extensive experience in providing expert opinions on the laws of UAE before arbitration tribunals and foreign courts.
Dr Arab obtained his PhD in Law from the University of Essex in the UK and has a law degree from Beirut University in Alexandria, Egypt. He also has a master’s degree in International Business from the University of Wollongong and practice diplomas in International Arbitration Law and International Commercial Law from the College of Law, UK. He is on the panel of arbitrators of ICSID, ICC, DIFC-LCIA, DIAC, SIAC, AIAC, CRCICA and TAHKEEM.
Dr Arab is a Vice-Chair of the Steering Committee of the ICC-UAE Commission on Arbitration and a member of the Arbitration Court of the Casablanca International Mediation & Arbitration Centre (CIMAC). He was recently recognised in the inaugural edition of Who’s Who Legal’s Future Leaders – Arbitration, a listing of the world’s foremost international arbitration practitioners under the age of 45.
He is the author and co-author of a number of publications on arbitration and dispute resolution. In addition, Dr Arab has authored several books including two volumes of the Civil Procedures Law in the UAE, Criminal Procedures Law in the UAE and has co-authored the first and second edition of the Summaries of UAE Courts’ Decisions on Arbitration (ICC publication).
