Elizabeth Morony is a partner at Clifford Chance LLP in London and leads their antitrust litigation group. She represents companies in cartel investigations by the European Commission and the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA, formerly the Office of Fair Trading) and in antitrust litigation in the UK and European courts. Recent experience includes representing a bank in the European Commission's investigations into cartels in interest rate derivatives; defending Siemens in claims for damages arising from the gas insulated switchgear cartel in the English High Court (National Grid v ABB and others); and defending Morgan Crucible in claims for damages arising from the electrical and mechanical carbon and graphite products cartel in the Competition Appeal Tribunal and on appeal to the Supreme Court (Emerson and others v Morgan Crucible and others and Deutsche Bahn AG and others v Morgan Advanced Materials plc). She is listed in the top tier for Competition Law: Litigation by Chambers UK, Europe and Global 2015.
Elizabeth is Vice-Chair of the IBA Antitrust Committee and was co-chair of the IBA Working Group on Antitrust Litigation in Europe. She is a Trustee of the Howard League for Penal Reform.
