Grant Herholdt


Grant Herholdt is a director at ENSafrica in the dispute resolution department. He specialises in both international dispute resolution as well as dispute resolution of a general commercial nature, including high court litigation and arbitrations.

Grant advises, inter alia, the Government of South Africa with regard to disputes falling within the domain of the GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) and WTO (World Trade Organisation) agreements. He has assisted and appeared for South Africa in disputes regulated under the WTO dispute resolution mechanisms, which are seated in Geneva, Switzerland. Some of the WTO topics that Grant has been involved in include anti-dumping, intellectual property, technical barriers to trade and safeguards.

Grant also specialises in, and advises on, international arbitration including investor state disputes.

Grant acts for and against government departments, listed companies and other blue-chip clients, carrying on business within the mining, banking, agricultural, IT and telecoms sectors. The disputes pertain to a myriad of issues including public sector procurement, constitutional issues, contracts, corporate governance, shareholders’ rights, cross-border issues, class actions and debt/financing. He also has experience in litigation within the sports arena, having acted on behalf of international sports bodies, domestic sports bodies, teams, players and agents.
