Edgardo Cartagena is one of the founding partners of Morell Bauzá Cartagena & Dapena. A graduate of the University of Puerto Rico School Of Law, Edgardo has over thirty years of experience as litigator and negotiator on both sides of diverse complex civil, corporate and commercial litigation, in federal and local courts as well as before arbitration panels. He serves as arbitrator in matters managed by the American Arbitration Association. Edgardo regularly counsels U.S. and international firms and serves as arbitrator in complex civil and commercial matters. His practice areas include corporate and commercial litigation and counselling; substantial experience in trade regulation, particularly distribution and franchise law; construction law and intellectual property.
Edgardo has lectured on diverse topics in seminars sponsored by, among others, the Puerto Rico Bar Association (lectures to attorneys and judges on complex litigation and negotiation); Interamerican University School of Law (Use of Negotiation Skills in Complex Litigation; The Injunction Under Law 75); and Promo Export (Trade regulation for international companies doing business in Puerto Rico).
Edgardo is a member of American Bar Association, the Puerto Rico Bar Association and the Federal Bar Association. His community service includes sitting on the Board of Directors of The Ricky Martin Foundation.
He is admitted to practice in the courts of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (1979); the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico (April 30, 1980); the U.S. Court of International Trade (1980) and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
