Andrés is a partner of the firm and heads the infrastructure and public procurement practice, and co-heads the mergers & acquisitions practice.
He graduated as a lawyer from Universidad de los Andes, and has postgraduate studies in public management and administrative institutions from the same university. Additionally, Andrés has a master’s degree in Law (LLM) from Northwestern University (Chicago, USA).
Andrés has a broad experience in public procurement and PPP projects, mergers & acquisitions, antitrust law and corporate law. He has assisted and advised several multinational and local companies in in cross-border M&A transactions.
Andrés and Santiago Gutiérrez were awarded with the “Deal Maker of the Year Award – 2015 Edition” in Colombia from Finance Monthly magazine (UK).
Before joining the firm, he worked as legal director of the Compartel Program of the Colombian Ministry of Communications and as law clerk to Justice Jaime Araújo on the Colombian Constitutional Court.
Andrés is a member of the board of directors of Comcel SA (Claro), the largest mobile services provider in Colombia, and of other companies.
Andrés is a member of the International Association of Young Lawyers (AIJA).
Andrés is co-author of the Colombia chapter of Merger Control 2016, edited by Chambers and Partners, London, 2016. He is also author of the following publications: “Challenges of Enforcing Common Law-Based M&A Contracts in Colombia,” International Bar Association – Latin American Regional Forum, September 2013, and “Top Ten Antitrust Concerns in M&A Transactions in Colombia,” Association of Corporate Counsel, September 2014.
