John H Vogel is a senior counsel at Crowell & Moring, having been formerly a partner at Squire Patton Boggs, with a focus on domestic and international corporate financial transactions. He represents sovereign wealth funds and European financial institutions in their US investments, and assists US clients with overseas project financing. John is the senior attorney at his firm practising in the area of Islamic financial transactions, and in this capacity he coordinates client representation with his firm’s attorneys and clients in the firm’s US, European and Middle East offices.
John has taught Islamic finance law at Georgetown Law School and at the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He writes extensively on Islamic finance and speaks on professional panels throughout the world.
John is an active member of the International Bar Association and the Union International des Avocats, both significant international law societies. He is a member of the Bars of New York, Maryland, the District of Columbia and the Supreme Court.
John is president and chairman of the board of directors of the Fulbright Association, the association of Fulbright Scholarship alumni in the United States. He serves on the board of directors of several companies, and he is on the board of the EDGE Foundation, organised to combat ADHD difficulties in high school students.
