Aled Davies is a partner in the Tokyo office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy and a member of the firm’s Project Finance Group. Aled has been based in Tokyo since 1996 and before joining Milbank was a senior partner in the Tokyo office of another leading international law firm.
Primary Focus & Experience
Aled regularly represents key stakeholders – including sponsors, lenders and export credit agencies – on large-scale infrastructure and energy projects throughout the world. He also advises on asset financings, including limited recourse financings, tax leasing of large vessels and on acquisitions (and acquisition financings) of project infrastructure and project finance assets.
Among noteworthy projects with which Aled has been involved is the US$34 billion Ichthys LNG Project in Australia – the largest project financing to date. He has also recently worked on other major LNG, mining, refinery and power projects in Southeast Asia, Australia, North and South America as well as in EMEA.
Recognition & Accomplishments
Aled is listed by Chambers as a 1st Tier lawyer in both Japan and for Asia overall, and was recently included among IFLR’s Top 35 Project Finance lawyers in the world.
His published works include “The Private Finance Initiative” and “Power Projects in Asia” published by the Japan Overseas Investment Organization and “Multi-Sourced Financings” published by Infrastructure Journal.
