Javier Torrecilla is an associate specialised in EU and Spanish competition law. He has a broad experience assisting national and international companies with respect to the following areas: Mergers and acquisitions (he advises clients in merger control cases before both the Spanish Competition Authority and the European Commission. At the national level Javier recently represented CEPSA in its acquisition of Chevron España and at the EU level has represented major companies); Antitrust proceedings and appeals (he has advised and defended companies in infringement proceedings before the Spanish Competition Authority in different sectors, including cases relating to the energy sector such as the Eléctricas case. Javier has represented and advised a number of companies in several judicial appeals before the High Court and the Supreme Court in Spain); and Regulatory advice (he regularly advises Spanish and international clients on competition issues regarding restrictive commercial agreements and abuse of dominance issues).
Before joining the Competition and EU law team at Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira, Javier worked for Garrigues where he gained experience in the Tax and Corporate Departments.
