Fahrul S. Yusuf graduated in 2003 from the University of Indonesia Faculty of Law and earned his LL.M. from the University of Chicago in 2010. He has been a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi) since August 2007, allowing him bar admittance in all judicial courts in Indonesia, and has been registered with the Capital Market and Financial Institutions Supervisory Board (Bapepam-LK, now the Financial Services Authority, or OJK) as a securities attorney since December 2007. In June 2008, he participated in the 45th session of the Academy of American and International Law in Dallas, Texas.
Fahrul has been with SSEK since July 2002 and has been a partner since January 2013. He has been heavily involved in merger and acquisition deals and various restructurings. Aside from general corporate and commercial matters, most of his work is related to securities, debt restructuring and antitrust matters.
His projects have included assisting Bank Mandiri, one of the largest banks in Indonesia, in its acquisition of a general insurance company with AXA in 2011, advising Bayan Resources in its 2009 debt restructuring and working with Bank Permata on its domestic offering of Rp 500 billion of subordinated bonds in 2006. He represented the Panin ANZ consortium in the acquisition of a controlling stake in Bank Permata from the government in 2004, advised Kordsa, a Turkish public company, in its acquisition of PT Branta Mulia in 2006, and in 2007 represented PT Indo Premier Securities in establishing and registering one of the first exchange-traded funds in Indonesia.
