Emalia has over 20 years of financial services, capital markets and M&A/corporate experience. A member of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association, Emalia is a licensed Advocate and a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI). She is an adviser to various national and international banks on regulatory and compliance matters, including on the ‘fit and proper test’ for relevant banking personnel. In the banking and finance sector, Emalia has advised international banks and financing institutions on financing in Indonesia and has often assisted the International Finance Corporation in regard to financing and share acquisitions.
Emalia obtained her Sarjana Hukum (Bachelor of Laws) degree from the University of Indonesia, Jakarta, majoring in International Law, in 1995. She has since completed the Capital Market Legal Consultants program conducted by the Capital Market Institute of Management Finance and Accounting in cooperation with the Association of Capital Market Legal Consultants. She is a member of the Inter-Pacific Bar Association and the Capital Markets Legal Consultants Association (HKHPM). Emalia is a licensed advocate and a member of the Indonesian Advocates Association (PERADI). Emalia is registered as a legal consultant at the Indonesia Financial Services.
Shortly after joining Soemadipradja & Taher, Emalia was seconded to Nauta Dutilh, one of the leading Dutch firms, in Singapore for one and a half years as an International Associate. Following her return to Indonesia, she has acted for both foreign and Indonesian clients in banking and finance, capital markets and corporate and mergers & acquisitions.
