Sergey is a partner working in the Moscow office of the law firm Gorodissky & Partners (Russia). He specialises in various legal and practical issues related to protection, ownership, acquisition, exploitation, licensing, franchising, litigation and enforcement of IP and IT rights in Russia and the CIS. Sergey deals with various types of IP/IT assets, including copyrights and related rights, software and databases, patents and designs, trademarks, brands and domain names. He also deals with internet and e-commerce, know-how and confidential information as well as privacy and data protection.
Sergey provides the required legal support to clients in connection with different transactions related to disposal and conveyance of IP/IT assets. He is regularly in charge of developing, reviewing, negotiating and perfecting (registering) assignment instruments, licence agreements, franchise contracts, security interests and other arrangements. Sergey is also involved in heavyweight M&A, joint venture and investment projects, IP/IT legal due diligence and IP/IT transfer processes.
Sergey litigates IP/IT rights and combats with unlawful/unauthorised use of IP/IT and illegal content on the internet, unfair competition and false advertising, parallel imports and grey market goods, counterfeits and piracy.
Sergey is permanently dealing with domain name issues and litigating domain name disputes. He represents the interests of clients in courts and with law enforcement agencies on different IP-infringement and/or unfair competition matters. Sergey participates in extra-judicial as well as judicial dispute resolution actions, civil and commercial dispute resolution procedures, administrative and criminal proceedings.
Sergey regularly delivers speeches at national seminars and international conferences. He is the author of a number of articles and works published by the leading Russian and international publishing houses, including Lexology Getting The Deal Through (GTDT), International Comparative Legal Guides (ICLG), International Law Office (ILO), Intellectual Asset Management (IAM), World Trademark Review (WTR), Kluwer Law International and Thomson Reuters (Practical Law).
Sergey is a member of Licensing Executives Society International (LESI), EuroFranchise Lawyers (EFL) Association and American Association of Intellectual Property Attorneys (AIPLA). He speaks English and French.
