Supo is a partner in ALP (Africa Law Practice). He is one of Nigeria’s leading commercial litigators and a distinguished arbitrator. He has been a member of the Nigerian inner bar (equivalent of Queen’s Counsel) since 2007. In the course of his legal practice, he has contributed to public service in several capacities and at various times including acting as Attorney General of Lagos State between 2007-2011. He was also Chairman of Lagos State Law Reform Commission between 2012-2015. He is at the moment a member of the board of the Nigerian Ports Authority.
He has over thirty years of significant experience in acting for sovereign, sub-national and private international parties in international commercial and investment arbitration/ litigation and other advisory capacities. He has represented sovereign states and entities in leading precedents on sovereign immunity in Nigeria. With a remarkable reputation for proffering commercially sensible solutions while protecting clients’ interests, he is also frequently selected as expert on Nigerian law at arbitration/foreign proceedings
He is author of Commercial Arbitration-Arbitration Law and International Practice in Nigeria (2011) (Johnson & Shasore) as well as Jurisdiction and Sovereign Immunity in Nigerian Commercial Law (Practice and textbook) (NIIA 2007). He is also the publisher and Editor-in-Chief (since 2004) of Commercial Law Reports of Nigeria (CLRN).
