Geert Verhoeven is a partner in the corporate finance practice of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s Brussels office. Geert joined the firm in 1997 and has previously worked as in-house legal counsel at KBC Bank.
Geert is known for his expertise in both corporate and finance law. He has experience of working in a wide range of sectors, and has played a leading role in many corporate and capital market transactions in Belgium, including some of the largest and more complex in recent years. He acts as global counsel on flagship cross-border transactions. Many of his clients also turn to him for advice on non-transactional matters such as stock exchange regulations, corporate law and governance.
Geert acts for Belgian and global corporates, private equity funds, investment banks and multinational organisations. Clients appreciate his imaginative problem-solving spirit, commitment, experience and all-round technical excellence. This combination of skills, clients say, taken with the breadth of his experience in corporate and finance law, allows him to remain calm, focused and on top of things at times when it really matters. His priority is always to understand the key legal and business issues in a deal and to find a workable legal solution.
