Juan Carlos joined Santamarina y Steta in 1990 and became a partner in 2002. He is a corporate lawyer with more than 25 years of experience in banking and finance, project finance and infrastructure, energy, and mergers and acquisitions matters. From 1997 to 1998 he worked with Brown & Wood LLP (now Sidley Austin LLP) in New York City.
Juan Carlos has broad experience in all type of financial work representing both financiers and debtors in a large number of domestic and cross-border transactions. His clients include international and local financial institutions, including major commercial banks, development financing agencies and export credit agencies, and an array of local and international companies. He has been a distinguished professor at several recognised universities in Mexico for more than 10 years. His experience and deep knowledge in the different areas in which he specialises have earned him multiple recognitions of a number of institutions at international level.
Juan Carlos holds a law degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and a diploma in International Business and Finance from New York University (NYU) in New York City.
