Stephen Mathias is head of the firm’s Bangalore office. He has assisted numerous multinationals doing business in India on a variety of corporate, commercial and financing transactions. In particular, he has assisted clients on loan documentation, advised on implications of ECB regulations and handled numerous equity financing transactions. Stephen has also been active in project finance for power projects and has recently been active in the renewables space. Stephen is the leading expert on regulatory issues relating to offshore operations of international banks in India, outsourcing to Indian vendors and privacy-related issues.
Stephen also co-chairs the firm's Technology Law Practice, the first of its kind in India. He represents some of the world’s largest information technology companies and his work involves setting up software development and BPO centers in India, software licensing, e-commerce, privacy, telecom and outsourcing.
He is listed in the International Who's Who of E-Commerce Lawyers, the Guide to the World’s Leading Technology, Media and Telecommunication Lawyers and Intellectual Asset Management magazine’s the World’s Leading Patent and Technology Licensing Lawyers.
