Javier Etcheverry Boneo is a partner at Marval, O'Farrell & Mairal since 1996, having joined the firm in 1991. Previously he had worked with the law firm of Clifford Chance.
Specialised in business law, his practice includes M&A, corporate finance, international capital markets, and private equity acquisitions and investments, particularly in the broadcasting, internet, media and telecommunications industries.
Javier took an active part in the process of consolidation of the cable television industry, working in regulatory aspects as well as in the acquisition, merger, financing and securities offerings of several companies. In addition, he currently advices controlling shareholders and owners of media companies (broadcast TV, cable TV, newspapers and radio), content and satellite services companies, as well as construction and engineering companies.
Moreover, he has worked as adviser for the Argentine government and the Argentine Central Bank in the regulatory and contractual issues relating to the restructuring of the financial system in Argentina.
He has obtained his law degree from the Universidad de Buenos Aires, and in 1990 he obtained a master’s in International Commercial Law (LLM) from the University of Kent, England. In 1988 he was made fellow of the Fundación Universitaria del Río de la Plata.
He has given presentations in a number of forums such as the Russell 20-20 Association, the International Section of the American Bar Association (ABA) and Latinfinance.
Javier is senior adviser of the United Nations and International Organizations Committee of the ABA and is a fellow of the American Bar Foundation.
