Matías Zegers is partner of DLA Piper (Chile) since 2006.
Mr Zegers (Santiago, Chile, 1970) studied law at the School of Law of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC), receiving the degree of Licenciado en Ciencias Jurídicas y Sociales in 1994 and being admitted to practise in 1995. Mr Zegers also obtained a master’s of Laws (LL) from the University of Michigan Law School (Ann Arbor) in 2002.
In his career, Mr Zegers worked with Davis Polk & Wardwell, New York, USA (2002–2003) and with other major law firms in Santiago (1995–2002, 2003–2006). He also is professor of Corporate and Securities Law at the School of Law of the UC since 1997, teaches mergers and acquisitions and corporate governance in the postgraduate master’s programmes at the same Law School, is the head of its Corporate and Tax Departments and is director of the Centre of Corporate Governance at UC.
Mr Zegers’ practice area focus are corporate and securities law, mainly mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, capital markets and project finance.
