Georges Dubé is a Partner in McMillan’s Capital Markets & M&A Group, and has a corporate commercial practice with extensive experience in corporate securities, private equity and corporate governance. His practise involves public and private securities offerings, take-over bids as well as mergers and acquisitions, both in the Canadian and cross-border context. He is consistently recognized by Lexpert as a leading corporate finance and securities lawyer, and is recognized in the 2019 Lexpert/American Lawyer Guide to the Leading 500 Lawyers in Canada (Corporate Finance) and the 2019 IFLR1000 Financial and Corporate Guide (Capital Markets, M&A).
Across industries including mining, real estate, technology and financial institutions, Georges’ clients include public issuers (large, mid-cap as well as emerging), bank-owned and independent investment banks, activist shareholders, and domestic and foreign acquirers of Canadian public entities. He is often called upon to assist with strategic decisions by boards of directors and acts for special committees and financial advisors of public issuer boards in the context of change of control or related-party transactions.
In 2010, Georges was appointed by the Ontario Securities Commission to the Securities Advisory Committee for a two-year term. The committee provides advice to the OSC on legislative and policy initiatives and capital markets trends. Georges also served as a trustee of Slate Office REIT, a Canadian publicly traded REIT, from 2012 to 2017.
Georges earned his LLB from McGill University and was called to the Ontario bar in 1994.
