Akiko Sueoka specialises in M&A transactions and LBO finance transactions, focusing on the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors. She is a founding member of the firm’s Healthcare Practice Group.
She passed the bar exam in Japan in 1992, graduated from Keio University (LLB) in 1994, and worked for Japan’s Ministry of Health and Welfare from 1994 to 1998, where she was in charge of the national health care insurance system and the establishment of the national long-term care insurance system. She later graduated from Harvard Law School (LLM). She was admitted to the New York bar in 2004. She worked with Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett, New York, for one year from 2003 to 2004, and with Pavia e Ansaldo, Rome, for one year from 2004 to 2005.
As a lawyer, she was also seconded by MHM to Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry from 2005 to 2006.
