His areas of practice include Foreign Investments, Banking and Finance, IT and Telecommunications, Corporate and Commercial, Employment, NGOs, Construction and Real Estate, Energy, Intellectual Property, Taxation, Litigation and ADR. Some of the work undertaken by him includes:

  • Representing a leading international cotton supplier in multiple litigations in connection with enforcing foreign-seated arbitration awards in Bangladesh.
  • Advising a world renowned dredging company on the laws relating to Public Private Partnership (PPP), income tax, value added tax, public procurement, construction and infrastructure, corporate, and banking and finance laws in connection with its Euro 850+ million PPP project with the Bangladesh Government.
  • Advising a leading European solar energy company on its due diligence for land acquisition and various other aspects regarding its entry into the Bangladesh energy sector.
  • Representing the largest telecom company in Bangladesh in defending a fine imposed by the regulator in connection with offering alternative services, amounting to USD 3.75 million; and advising it  regarding restructuring its non-core businesses and related tax implications.
  • Advised a leading power sector entity and a consortium of banks as common counsel with respect to obtaining USD 37 million debt financing.
  • Advised a Switzerland based financial company on several cross-border debt investments in Bangladesh.
  • Advised various international companies on their foreign investments in Bangladesh, including one of the largest ride-sharing companies in the world, a leading South African IT company, a USA-based payment platform company and several other international companies in setting up their local operations (including formation of subsidiary companies and branches).
  • Advised an international energy company having operations in Bangladesh on the applicability of workers’ profit participation fund.
  • Successfully represented a leading developer company before the Labour Court and Labour Appellate Tribunal on several cases involving termination and severance benefits.
  • Advised one of the Big-four accounting firms on various aspects of Bangladeshi corporate, tax, IT, telecommunications and employment laws.
  • Advised a leading pharmaceutical company in Bangladesh on patent laws with regard to a process verifying the authenticity of its medicines.
  • Advised a leading tobacco company on cross-border trademark protection issues and labour laws (including union issues) in Bangladesh.
  • Advised an international NGO (with Bangladesh presence) on restructuring its worldwide operations and governance, spanning across 10 different countries.
  • Advising several international NGO’s on registration, renewal, restructuring and on labour, employment, foreign donation and immigration laws.
