Rudi Desmet is a partner with the Belgian law firm Astrea. He has over 25 years of experience in advising Belgian and foreign companies on employment and social security law. After practising as a lawyer in Ghent for several years, Rudi became a corporate lawyer in a large payroll software company, where he worked his way up to a managerial position of a payroll agency. Those years as a manager gave him an inside view of how a company is run. In those managerial years, Rudi obtained an Executive MBA. Since his return to the bar as an employment lawyer in 2000, Rudi still applies that knowledge on a daily basis, both as a partner at Astrea, and in relation to his clients, who are often in charge of companies themselves.
