Javier Gallego Larrubia was admitted to the Madrid Bar Association in 1998 and has extensive professional experience in all areas of Business and Civil Law. He combines the professional practice of law with teaching and research activities as Professor of Business Law at the Complutense University of Madrid. He is Arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration of the Madrid Bar Association.
In his academic research he focuses on the areas of Corporate and Bankruptcy Law and in his professional career he has specialized in corporate transactions and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, divestment processes, corporate disputes and shareholder agreements, civil and commercial contracts, settlements with creditors, bankruptcies and pre-bankruptcy counselling.
Founding partner of Gallego Larrubia Abogados, Gallego, Martos & Quadra-Salcedo and De la Cuesta, Gallego & Martos law firms. He has previously rendered his professional services as a lawyer in the international law firms of Clifford Chance, Cremades & Calvo-Sotelo and Strateg. Founding associate of the Spanish Association of Minority Shareholders of Listed Companies (AEMEC).
Educational and research activities:
He is Professor of Business Law at the Complutense University of Madrid and Professor of the Master’s Program in Private Law and Access to the Practice of Law at the Complutense University of Madrid.
A lecturer at the IE (Instituto de Empresa) and IFAES (International Faculty for Executives), he has participated as a business law specialist with several media organisations. He is the author of a number of specialized publications (monographs and articles in scientific journals) and opinion pieces in publications such as Expansión, El Economista and La Gaceta de los Negocios. He has taken part in several national and international congresses and was selected to participate as a researcher in the “VIII Harvard Course in Law and Economics” (Harvard Law School – Harvard University). Winner of the Extraordinary Degree Award in 1998, and finalist in the Freshfields – Expansion Award for Best Business Law Student in Spain in 1998. He is the recipient of a PhD Fellowship from the Royal College of Spain in Bologna (Italy), a PhD Fellowship from the Complutense University of Madrid and a Fellowship from the Bologna University Law School.
European PhD in Law Research (Dottorato Europeo di Ricerca) from the Bologna University (Italy) with honors.
Research proficiency obtained with the highest qualifications in all PhD courses in the Business Law Department of the Complutense University of Madrid.
