Melanie is a senior associate in the gambling law team and has been advising clients from all sectors of the industry on gambling law and regulation since the Gambling Act 2005 came into force. She also regularly contributes to gambling law and industry publications.
Melanie’s work includes advising on establishing gambling operations in the UK and offshore jurisdictions and on the legality of new gambling ventures, providing due diligence on the licensing aspects of corporate acquisitions and advising on issues relating to advertising gambling products in the UK. Melanie enjoys the challenge of translating this often complex area of law into understandable, client focused advice. In addition, she has extensive experience of preparing applications for operating licences and premises licences, and assisting clients in preparing their internal policies and procedures to meet the Gambling Commission’s requirements.
Melanie graduated from St Hilda’s College, Oxford in 2003 and then trained as a barrister before joining Harris Hagan in 2005. She was called to the Bar in 2005 and qualified as a solicitor in 2008.
