Yee Leong’s primary area of practice is international arbitration focusing on the areas of energy, oil and gas, power and infrastructure projects.
In practice for more than 26 years, Yee Leong has been involved in a broad range of international arbitration, dispute boards and litigation matters representing diverse clients, including multinational entities, consortiums, governments and other agencies throughout Asia.
Yee Leong is consistently recognised as a leading arbitration practitioner by many legal publications. Among others, Chambers Global/Asia-Pacific (2013) notes that he is a 'prominent figure in the region, thanks to his years of experience in countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and Laos'. In the 2014 edition, he was recognised as 'an active, "very capable and well-known" international arbitration specialist'. Yee Leong was also one of the nominees (and the only Asian nominee) for the Global Arbitration Review inaugural 'Advocate of the Year' award and has been named Singapore International Arbitration 'Lawyer of the Year' 2015–2016 by Best Lawyers.
Yee Leong is a Chartered Arbitrator and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Singapore Institute of Arbitrators. He is also on the panel of arbitrators for Singapore International Arbitration Centre, Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration and CIArb Presidential Panel of Arbitrators.
Prior to joining Rahmat Lim & Partners in 2013, Yee Leong was a partner at another large Singapore law firm and its associate Malaysian firm, and prior to that, an international law firm, where he headed their international arbitration practice.
Yee Leong is admitted to practise in Singapore and Malaysia, and is a non-practising solicitor of England and Wales.
