Árpád Geréd is an international IT-lawyer and founding partner of Viennese business law firm Maybach Görg Lenneis Geréd Rechtsanwälte GmbH. Before, he was partner at a renowned law firm in Vienna and in-house-counsel to a leading international ICT enterprise.
With more than a decade of professional experience and a passion for everything related to information technology, Árpád has specialised in consultation in and negotiating of technology-related deals, with a strong focus on cloud computing, cybersecurity and data protection. In his practice, Árpád combines technological know-how with legal expertise, allowing him to communicate likewise with business and IT decision-makers, a skill that his international clients value highly. Beyond that, his regular work for the UNICTRAL has granted him a truly international view on IT- and technology law.
Since 2017 and after serving as vice president for three years, Árpád has acted as the President of the Commission for Intellectual Property, Technology, Media and Telecommunications (IP/TMT) of the AIJA, the most important international association devoted to lawyers and in-house counsels aged 45 and under. Beyond that, he is a member of the board of various technology associations.
Árpád regularly speaks on IT and technology-related topics in Austria and abroad. Among others, he is also an author and master editor for the legal part of the multinational and interdisciplinary book Cloud Migration (currently in its third edition) and author of the chapter “Data Protection and IT-Security” in one of the leading publications on data protection in Austria. Furthermore, he is an accredited auditor to the EuroCloud StarAudit, specialist in software as a service, as well as a lecturer in the master’s programme Cloud Computing Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland.
His more recent accolades include “Lawyer of the Year – Cyber Security – Austria” and “Information Technology Lawyer of the Year”. Árpád is furthermore listed in Who’s Who Legal as one of the leading experts in Austria for data protection, data security and information technology.
