Charles is the Senior Partner of the firm with 20 years’ experience in energy, mining, and infrastructure, as well as corporate, banking and finance law. He is recognized as a national expert on mining law in Zambia, advising companies including First Quantum Minerals Limited (FQML), Rio Tinto, ENRC, Vale, Albidon, Blackthorn Resources, Berkley Mineral Resources, RTG Mining and others on all aspects of their business. Some of his recent mining transactions include advising Be Metals Corporation, in relation to its acquisition of a 72.5 percent interest in Pangeni copper mining project in the Zambian Copper Belt; Intrepid Mines Zambia regarding the sale of all the share capital in its wholly owned Zambian subsidiaries, the Mumbwa Project and the Kitumba Project to Ralior Limited; and FQML on the development of the USD 2 billion Trident Project in north-west Zambia, expected to produce 270,000 to 300,000 tons of copper per year.
