Haanee completed his law degree and postgraduate Legal Practice Course (LPC) at BPP Law School and Nottingham Law School in the United Kingdom. He was attached to a commercial law firm in the UK for a year before returning to Kenya where he successfully completed the Advocates Training Practice course (ATP) and was admitted as an advocate to the High Court of Kenya. He worked with a top tiered Kenyan law firm for three years before moving to Kenya Airways Limited for a further three years. He is currently a senior associate at Iseme, Kamau and Maema Advocates (member of the DLA Piper Group) where he has served as a senior associate for just over a year.
Haanee currently represents national and international corporate aircraft operators and private individuals in aviation matters involving, among other things, regulatory matters, acquisitions, financing and chartering of corporate aircraft, engines and parts. He is also working as a stakeholder involved in the review of draft legislation set to reform the legal framework in the Kenyan aviation industry.
He was a key speaker at the Law Society of Kenya Aviation Seminar, Nairobi, Kenya (June 2014) as well as the 4th Africa Aviation Law Conference 2014, Nairobi, Kenya (December 2014), the 5th Africa Aviation Law Conference 2014, Nairobi, Kenya (December 2015) and the Law Society of Kenya (CPD) Seminar on Transport, Communication & Technology - Opportunities in Aviation Law (April 2016).
Haanee has worked on numerous transactions in a range of practice areas, involving mergers and acquisitions, due diligence exercises, preparing key transactional agreements and issuing opinions.
