Jens Waldner is a senior attorney in the corporate department of Paul Hastings. He is based in the firm's Paris office where he leads the firm’s fintech and payments as well as the privacy and cybersecurity practices in France.
Mr Waldner has more than 12 years of experience in both private and public M&A, including in regulated environments such as the financial services and insurance sectors. His practice focuses on private acquisitions, disposals, mergers, investments, joint-ventures, and equity capital market transactions (friendly or hostile takeover bids, issue of equity and equity-linked securities, squeeze-out procedures) as well as on related litigation (warranty claims, earn-out disputes, shareholder conflicts and activism, D&O liability).
Besides, Mr Waldner also advises a broad range of traditional and disruptive players in the financial services industry on the development of new products, including the launch of crypto currency and other tokenisation projects, mobile payment solutions, novel fundraising and money transfer services, digital wallets, and stored value card programmes.
In addition, it is noteworthy that Mr Waldner specialised in data privacy matters for more than eight years. With extensive experience across various data-rich sectors such as financial services, life sciences, healthcare, technology, and e-commerce, he advises on all aspects of data protection and privacy compliance, including specialist advice on audit and implementation projects, cross-border data flows, outsourcing, information and technology security, and breach incidents.
Mr Waldner is bilingual in German and French, and fluent in English. He has been a member of the Paris Bar since 2005.
