Angell has over 22 years of solid experiences in both legal and compliance fields in China and throughout Asia Pacific, with a combination of private practicing and 12 years’ in-house experience including as General Counsel, Asia Pacific, for GE Intelligent Platforms and for Ashland Inc., Compliance Leader for Kering Asia Pacific and Counsel for Michelin China.

In art law field, Angell is a recognized expert, experienced not only in advising clients on strategic planning and deal structuring, but also on various matters relating to or arising from the world of artwork and cultural relics, ranging from creation, transaction, exhibition, event, intellectual property rights, regulatory compliance and dispute resolutions in respect of artworks to cultural relics protection, repair, conservation and legitimate circulation, museums and galleries operation and management, as well as art licensing, art loan, art financing and other crossover fields with art involved. Clients seeking Angell’s counselling include but are not limited to museums, academies, non-profit organisations, artists, studios, galleries, agents, financial institutions, collectors, private clients, family offices, art business operators. In art licensing, Angell is assisting not only the world leading museums’ licensing in China, such as the British Museum, the MET, V&A, MFA Boston and the National Gallery, but also China’s world-class museums’ licensing outside China, such as the Palace Museum. Angell is also a strong supporter of art-related pro bono programs and has been deeply involved in Chinese handcraft renaissance, cultural heritage protection, arts in public space and artists “on-site”.
