Ifeyinwa Ufondu is a Senior Associate in Benchmac & Ince. She has at different times worked with teams providing legal advisory services to Bureau of Public Enterprises (Nigeria) on its privatization, divestment, commercialization and electric power reform activities, specifically advising on critical electricity industry-wide legislative and regulatory issues relating to the reform of the electric power sector and the privatization of electric power companies in the context of the legal framework in Nigeria.
She worked with the Benchmac & Ince team in the privatization of PHCN successor companies and the Corporate Restructuring of Niger Delta Power Holding Company. She was also involved in providing legal advisory services to NERC on the implementation of the Power Consumer Assistance Fund (PCAF) and has carried out a Legal and regulatory review of all laws, regulations, rules and codes (including the Electric Power Sector Reform Act 2005 and the National Electric Power Policy). She provided legal support to NBET to enhance NBET’s negotiating capacity in respect of certain PPAs (and ancillary documents) to be entered under the Nigerian electricity & gas improvement project.
She has provided legal advisory services and has ample experience working on Infrastructure and PPP Projects that cuts across Electric Power, Maritime(Sea Port) and Agricultural sector. Currently, she is on the legal team providing advisory services to the Federal and State government of Nigeria on various PPP projects.
