Philip helps his clients (which are mainly international corporates) solve their tax problems. He enjoys an academic challenge but tries to structure around not only tax issues but the intellectual black holes of known grey areas.
He is a generalist and over time has focused his practice as determined by the economic headwinds. He focused on large corporate acquisitions in the early 2000's, debt capital markets and banking transactions later in the decade and restructuring and insolvencies (particularly in the debt capital markets space) in the wake of the financial crisis. Recently he has mastered FATCA and has expanded his structured finance practice into the equipment leasing space. Philip has been head of the London tax practice since 2014 and is a member of the Law Society's corporation tax subcommittee.
