Mr. Kubo has an ample experience in advising Energy Business Regulation. Since he has worked at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (‘METI’) from October 2011 - March 2014 as a Deputy Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs Policy Division, he has engaged in amending the Commodities Derivatives Act of Japan and worked with the Financial Services Agency of Japan for consulting to make a better regulation concerning derivatives in Japan. Meantime his works have been as follows:
Institutionalized electric power derivatives by amending the Commodity Derivatives Act as part of Electric System Reformation.
Organized the LNG Futures Market Council with business firms, electric power companies, oil companies, financial institutions, a commodity exchange, a clearing house and a think tank. Established the scheme for enabling METI to publish benchmark prices of short-term contracts for LNG imported to Japan.
Organized the OTC derivatives study group with business firms, oil companies, financial institutions, a commodity exchange, a clearing house and ISDA (International Swaps and Derivatives Association).
Participated in an international conference hosted by IOSCO (International Organization of Securities Commissions) as a representative of METI.
Based on such experiences, at present he has been working at TMI Associates and advising various kinds of clients in relation to the Energy Business as well as its derivatives transactions. His support always seeks the best ways to go for the clients to accelerate their business.
