Ike C. Ibeku- Ike is the managing partner of Benchmac & Ince. A keen P3 practitioner, he has played an active role in landmark transactions that have shaped the current evolution of the electric power sector. He was the lead local counsel for NBET on the securitarisation of DisCos guarantees for the benefit of the Generation companies with a then local value of N56BN towards disbursement of NEMSF issued by the CBN. He was also the lead local counsel on provision of legal advisory services to NBET through a World Bank assisted program to enhance NBET negotiation capacity in respect of certain PPAs (and ancillary documents) under the Nigeria Electricity and Gas Improvement Project under which PPAs with a potential to add more than 3GW to the grid were initialled. He was also the local legal Counsel in the project team to the German Agency for International Co-operation on Competitive Procurement System for IPP renewable Energy generation capacity in Nigeria.
Ike was a core member in the landmark Nigeria Power privatisation that successfully led to the successor companies of then Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) being privatised and long term concessions for the Hydros.
He actively participated in the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Ltd corporate restructuring and private sector participation in the operation and ownership of the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP) generation assets and investment protection of NIPP gas, transmission and distribution assets.
Ike is passionate about the need to urgently fill the infrastructure gap in Nigeria which will fast track growth and development.
