Tariq, Partner at Axis Law, earned his Bachelors of Law from University of London in 2004 and Masters of Law from Harvard University in 2007.
He has over fourteen years of experience in non-contentious corporate, commercial, transactional and advisory work ranging from complex corporate structuring, green field projects, start-ups, corporate compliance, labour and employment law matters, mergers & acquisitions, project finance and joint ventures. He has advised corporations in the IT / technology, engineering / manufacturing, retail, amusement park / entertainment, telecommunications, real estate, renewable energy, textile & denim, food, beverages and agricultural sectors. In addition, he routinely advises various companies in their matters related to real estate and construction. Recently, he has been engaged by leading local and international companies to advise on the compliance requirements under various labour laws of Pakistan as well as on corporate compliance under the applicable Pakistani Company law. In particular, after the enactment of the new Companies Act 2017 introducing several changes, Tariq has advised several organizations on the changes. Tariq is a Chambers & Partners ranked lawyer for his corporate / commercial work and is described as “an excellent strategic thinker” who is “quick on the uptake”.
Tariq also has substantial experience in providing top-quality dispute resolution services (litigation, arbitration & mediation) to a wide variety of clientele and has been involved in a number of commercial disputes and landmark constitutional cases. He has represented a broad portfolio of public sector clients including the Pakistan International Airlines, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and the Expo Centre Lahore. Tariq is a Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) Accredited Mediator.
