Maricarmen Plata Rovetto is a native of Panama City, Panama. Maricarmen is a partner of Anzola Robles & Asociados, with a primary practice focused on the areas of Commercial Law, Tax Law and Corporate Law. She received her LLB degree, magna cum laude from Santa Maria La Antigua University, School of Law (Panama). Was admitted to the practice of law in Panama upon graduation in 2001, she continued her graduate level studies at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom with a Chevening Scholarship from the UK Embassy in Panama and an honorary Cambridge Overseas Trust Scholarship, to further her academic preparation through an (LLM) degree. During her time at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, she worked in private practice, in the structuring and management of companies, advising and providing legal support in tax, corporate and administrative matters.
Maricarmen also actively supports local universities and associations in the promotion of Human Rights and International Law Moot Court competitions, having herself pioneered such efforts by being part of the first team representing Panama before such prestigious events as the American University Human Rights Moot Court and the Jimenez de Aréchaga Moot Court Competition in San Jose, Costa Rica. Committed to promoting social development through the education in values of future generations, Maricarmen has also devoted her free time to working with children and youth groups for over a decade.
She is a member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and the International Fiscal Association (IFA).
