Alina Popescu is founding partner of MPR Partners | Maravela, Popescu & Roman and founder of the firm’s competition practice group, having acted as lead counsel in all the firm’s competition law assignments. She holds a 2004 LLM in European Union Law (strong EU competition law curriculum) awarded with distinction by the French University of Bordeaux IV and over 11 years of hands-on experience in antitrust, State aid and unfair competition matters. Alina has succeeded to lead the firm’s competition department to acquiring a strong portfolio and outstanding recognition for client service. While she particularly specialises in anticompetitive agreements, merger clearance and State aid topics, Alina’s competition practice is wide ranging, including various industries and the entire plethora of competition matters. Alina has been at the forefront of some of the largest projects and transactions unfolded in Romania as well as of some of the most significant commercial and investment arbitrations involving Romanian counsel.
