Carlos de Icaza heads the Environmental Law Practice Group at the Mexican law firm of Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enriquez, S.C., and is also part of his firm’s Climate Change, Clean Development and Alternative Energy Practice Group Mr. de Icaza specializes in Environmental Law and has also ample experience in mergers & acquisitions and real estate transactions. He has actively represented major industrial groups, real estate investment companies and private equity funds, involved in the industrial, tourism, retail and housing sectors, requiring environmental, real estate and transactional advice. Mr. de Icaza also provides legal environmental advice to chemical, consumer goods, mining and other industries doing business in Mexico.
Mr. de Icaza obtained his law degree (JD) with “special distinction” from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in Mexico City in 1997, and obtained his Masters of Laws (LL.M) degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, in 2000. Mr. de Icaza studied a Post-Graduate Course on Environmental Law, in 1998, from the ITAM in Mexico City.
Mr. de Icaza worked as Foreign Associate at the Los Angeles office of Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker in 2000 and 2001. He re-joined Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aiza y Enriquez, S.C. in 2002, having previously worked with such firm between 1995 and 1999.
Mr. de Icaza is a native Spanish speaker and is fluent in English and French.
