Alexia ‘s practice is focused on public law, including administration law, constitutional law and legislation drafting. Since May 2004 when the Tenders Review Authority (TRA) was established in Cyprus, Alexia has focused her practice almost entirely in the field of public procurement law and was actually the first lawyer in Cyprus to bring a case before the TRA.
In the past thirteen years Alexia has handled many cases before the TRA and before the Supreme Court acting in many of them on behalf of some of the major construction companies of the island, on behalf of international and local pharmaceutical companies, international and local information technology companies, semi-governmental organizations.
Amongst many cases, Alexia has successfully handled some of the county’s leading public procurement cases including the public transportation contract, the Animal by-products and derived products contract, the Cyprus Ports Authority information system project and the recent cases of the exclusion of major construction companies from public contracts on the grounds of grave professional misconduct which are deemed to be of great importance from a legal perspective and for the public interest in general.
Alexia is since 2010 a member of the United Kingdom Procurement Lawyers Association. She is the author of legal publications in English and local magazines and speaks fluently Greek, English and German and has good knowledge of French. Alexia has been recently invited by the World Bank Group as the sole practising lawyer in Cyprus to participate in the Benchmarking Public Procurement 2017 project.
