Javier Pérez Fernández is a competition law associate at Ramón y Cajal Abogados, based in the Madrid office. He specialises in private antitrust litigation, particularly follow-on damages actions, and unfair competition claims. He also assists in public enforcement work, particularly cartel investigations.
Prior to joining Ramón y Cajal Abogados in 2016, Mr Pérez Fernández worked as an associate in a leading Spanish firm, where he worked in the private antitrust litigation area, handling cross-border follow-on actions before the English High Court and the Competition Appeal Tribunal. He has also worked as an intern in a renowned EU competition and trade-focused boutique firm in Brussels.
Mr Pérez Fernández regularly collaborates with Universidad Carlos III in Madrid, where he has given seminars on private antitrust litigation. He continues to assist students from the same university who participate in the public international law student competition ‘Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition’, as team advisor.
Mr Pérez graduated in Law and Business Administration from the Universidad Carlos III in Madrid (2013), where he later obtained an LLM in European Union Law (2014). He is a member of the Madrid Bar.
