Wataru Kamoto is a partner in Hogan Lovells' Tokyo office and a member of its Corporate team. Wataru is dual-qualified in New York and Japan, and specialises in M&A and international tax.
Wataru has extensive experience in representing leading multinationals in connection with their corporate transactions and projects in Japan and globally. He is particularly committed to assisting Japanese corporations on their cross-border and domestic transactions. In addition to his core transactional practice, Wataru has specialist expertise in tax, insurance, antitrust and dispute resolution.
Wataru received an LLB from the University of Tokyo in 1996 and LLMs in international taxation and taxation from New York University School of Law in 2005 and 2006 respectively. He passed the Japanese Bar Examination in 1996 and was qualified in Japan in 2000, and was admitted to the New York Bar in 2006. Prior to joining Hogan Lovells, Wataru was a partner at a Japanese law firm. He has previously worked at several leading international law firms in Tokyo.
