Rishi Pursem is a seasoned advocate who was appointed senior counsel in 2010. He started his career at the Attorney General’s Office as Crown Counsel, acted as Parliamentary Counsel and Director of Public Prosecutions and eventually became Assistant Solicitor General. In 2001, he joined Benoit Chambers where he is the head of litigation and dispute resolution. Rishi regularly appears before the Supreme Court of Mauritius and the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in London in disputes relating to complex commercial transactions. He is also frequently involved in arbitration proceedings as counsel or arbitrator and has also acted as expert witness on matters of Mauritius law. He was also a member of the Law Reform Commission of Mauritius from 2010 to 2016.
