Alfredo is a partner at King & Wood Mallesons, where he has been leading the Litigation and Arbitration department in Madrid for 10 years.
Through his more than 20 years of experience, advising both national and international clients, he has been involved in all kind of civil, commercial, insolvency, administrative and criminal proceedings before all courts (including the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Court or the European Court of Justice).
In particular, Alfredo has wide experience and sound knowledge concerning complex commercial and financial disputes, cross-border litigation, as well as national and international arbitration.
Alfredo’s client portfolio includes national and international listed companies. He regularly advises clients on matters concerning contractual liability, disputes between shareholders, challenging of corporate agreements and decisions of management boards, directors’ liability, stock markets, unfair competition, private equity issues, construction agreements and white-collar crimes. In arbitration, he has been appointed as sole arbitrator and some of his latest cases as counsel include the following:
Advising a major energy company against the Spanish government, following the reform of the electric legal regime (€800 million);
Advising an investment bank on a breach of an escrow agreement (€35 million);
Advising one of the largest shipping companies on a breach of a joint venture agreement (€33 million);
Advising a real estate conglomerate on a breach of a shopping centre SPA (€20 million);
Advising a UK SPV on a breach of an EPC contract (US$18 million);
Advising a private equity firm on a breach of a plot acquisition aimed to develop a hotel resort (€13.6 million);
Advising an Iberian construction company on a breach of a construction agreement of an energy plant in Germany (€10 million)
