Isabel is a partner in Slaughter and May's competition group. She has a broad practice and advises across a range of industries, including regulated industries, as regards merger control, market investigations, general competition law, sectoral regulatory requirements, and public procurement.
Isabel has a particular expertise in state aid law and is regarded as a leading practitioner in this area. She has advised the UK government on the competition and state aid aspects of several matters, including the banking recapitalisation scheme, the asset protection scheme, the interventions in relation to Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley, and the establishment of the Green Investment Bank and the British Business Bank. Other clients on state aid issues include the Portuguese Ministry of Finance and Royal Mail.
Outside of the state aid area, Isabel's work includes advising Manchester Airport Group on its acquisition of Stansted airport, Chi-X on its merger with BATS, and Ireland's Electricity Supply Board on its acquisition of Northern Ireland Electricity. She also advised Ocado Group on its agreement in respect of Morrison's online grocery business and Bupa on the CMA's private healthcare market investigation.
Isabel is currently the vice chair of the Law Society competition section committee and a member of the City of London Law Society competition law committee. She is recognised as a leading individual by both Chambers and The Legal 500.
