Franz Aleth has been a partner of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP since 2000 and works in their Cologne office. He specialises in M&A and restructuring work, both developing new structures and organising their implementation. He believes that it is important to take a comprehensive and broad view of a client’s request (a narrow, ‘one size fits all’ approach cannot hope to address all the issues) and, thus, to be creative and constructive.
Franz’s practice is focused on complex, often multi-jurisdictional, mergers & acquisitions in the areas of information technology, real estate industry and automotive industry. He has also advised on numerous out-of-court restructurings and insolvency plan proceedings (eg Pleiderer AG, IVG Immobilien AG).
Before joining the firm in 1994, Franz worked as scientific assistant at the Institute for Civil Law and Law of Civil Procedure at the University of Bayreuth. He also worked with Gardner Carton & Douglas in Chicago. Franz is author and co-author of several books and publications on restructuring & insolvency law.
