Sergey Seliverstov is a bachelor (diploma with honour) of the International law department of Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and a master of Laws (diploma with honour and Gold Medal) of the European Law Institute of MGIMO. Sergey has been with Sokolov, Maslov & Partners since 2003. He deals with a wide range of matters of private international law, Russian transport and energy law. His main activity consists in complex cross-jurisdictional projects and disputes. Sergey represents airlines, airports and insurers in disputes related to aviation accidents and incidents, requiring individual approach and combined economic and legal analysis. He also advises clients on various finance and ground handling issues and in their communications with the Russian public authorities.
In October 2006, Sergey was awarded a PhD in law by MGIMO and during the following 10 years was the part-time associate professor there. Sergey frequently speaks at international conferences and is the author of a number of research publications in Russian and in English in the field of Russian and international transport, energy and infrastructure law. Visiting Fellow to the Clare Hall College (Cambridge University) in 2005–2006 Sergey was elected the Life Member of the College. In 2012, Sergey was awarded The Lawyer of the Year prize by MGIMO Alumni Association.
Sergey was mentioned in the international legal ratings of Legal 500 Russia (Transport) consistently in 2013 and 2015−2018 and in the legal ratings of Chambers and Partners (Transportation; Russia) in 2018.
